This week, Ron Boehmer is giving a Landscape Painting workshop at
Wethersfield Academy for the Arts. Sandra Wakeen is the Education
Director of the Academy and this is Ron's second workshop at WAA.
Below, he is critiquing Sandra's painting done in the Community Gardens.
The painting to the left is also one of Sandra's works.

Rain in Plein

My first post will hark back to the summer. This picture and commentary were on 
the front page of the Hartford Courant newspaper. I had a lot of fun with this project 
and the exhibit and opening were great.

The caption reads:

Sandra Wakeen of Somers glances up at the light rain falling Monday as she paints a scene in the Wethersfield Community Garden. Wakeen is one of 12 professional artists from throughout the state who are painting scenes in Wethersfield through a Neighborhood Arts & Heritage grant from the Greater Hartford Arts Council. The artists collaborated with 12 Wethersfield residents to choose places around town to paint. Wakeen, who teaches at the Wethersfield Academy for the Arts, chose the garden because she feels it embodies the spirit of community. She is painting in a plot grown by John Oldham, Jr. The month-long painting project will culminate with a exhibit in mid-August at the arts academy.
